We are a group of Middle Tennessee dads who get together every week for playgroup at an area playground -- currently Wednesdays at 10:30 am. We often meet in Nashville due to its central location, however we also visit places like Bellevue, Mt. Juliet, Franklin, Donelson, Murfreesboro, and Spring Hill depending on current members.

It's usually easy to spot us on the playground - there aren't often too many groups of men there. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please drop us a line at Nashdads@gmail.com. You can also sign up for our GroupMe text alerts below.

August 26: Crockett Park

Looks like a sunny day tomorrow, so let's hit up Crockett Park.  I know we were there recently, but the shade will be welcome, I think.  Hope to see you there!

August 21: Dad's Night Out - Cards Against Humanity

Leave the kiddos at home and come play Cards Against Humanity at Russ' House on Friday, August 21 at 8 pm.  For those that haven't played, the game is best described as Apples to Apples but for adults - with combinations that are usually inappropriate for mixed audiences - but often hilarious.  Google the game to find out more.  Come blow off steam and have some fun with the guys.  Address and phone contacts on the Group Me (which you can join from the link on the right --> ).

August 19 : Edmondson Pike Library Story Time

It looks like rain is threatening again this week, so we'll head indoors.  With downtown story time on hiatus, let's try something new.  I have not been to this story time before, so it will be a Nashdads experiment.  If the weather clears up for us, there is a decent playground at this library as well, so we'll be covered either way.  PLEASE NOTE THE SLIGHTLY EARLIER TIME!

Where: Edmondson Pike Library (5501 Edmondson Pike, Nashville, TN 37211)
When: 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 19

About Us

NashDads is the 6th "generation" of the Middle Tennessee Stay At Home Dads group that started back in 1996. Organization responsibility changes hands every few years as kids get older and start school. A few of our active members have been attending playgroups since 2004, but we are always adding newer dads to our ranks.  Currently, we get our kids together every Wednesday morning for playgroup. Many of us are stay at home dads, but several do have work hours that leave them free at the right time.
Weather permitting, we usually meet at an area playground at 10:30 am to let the little ones burn off some energy while we chat about sports, movies, politics, bargain hunting, cars, TV shows, the tribulations of potty training or whatever/wherever the conversation may go. If it's too cold or wet outside, there are a number of indoor places we like to visit (sometimes one of our homes).
After playing, those interested will head to a nearby restaurant for lunch (others go on about their business...no pressure). We also have an occasional dads-night-out that usually meets at area restaurants with the occasional visit to a Nashville Sounds or Predators game or to catch a movie. The lunch and DNO group often includes dads who "graduated out" when their kids started school, so it's a nice way to keep in touch and see how the group has evolved over the years.  Occasionally, we will schedule a major road trip like the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga or the Huntsville Rocket Center.
We hope you'll join us at a playgroup soon.  If you have any questions, email us.  For playgroup announcements, you can subscribe to this blog, or join our GroupMe by heading here.

August 11: Monkey Joe's Indoor Bounce House

Weather looks iffy this week, so we're going indoors.  This is Russ' last official playgroup, so he had prerogative - so Monkey Joe's it is.  Playtime is $9 for jumpers over 2, under 2 costs $6 (if they are playing, I think infants and the like are free).  You can find more deatails on the Monkey Joe's website.
